Nitrogen Tire
Inflation in Marietta, GA
Steadier tire pressure, less moisture inside your tires, and fewer TPMS headaches when the weather swings — done while you wait at our Roswell Road shop.
Why Nitrogen
What Nitrogen Actually
Does for Your Tires
Nitrogen is dry, inert, and its molecules are slightly larger than the mix in compressed air. That means a few practical advantages for everyday driving.
Steadier Pressure
Nitrogen permeates through rubber more slowly than oxygen. Your tire pressure stays closer to spec for longer between checks.
Less Moisture
Compressed air carries water vapor. Nitrogen is dry — less internal corrosion on your wheels and valve stems over time.
Temperature Consistency
Dry nitrogen expands and contracts more predictably with temperature changes — helpful during Georgia's hot summers and cold snaps.
Fewer TPMS Alerts
More stable pressure means fewer annoying TPMS warning lights triggered by overnight temperature drops or seasonal swings.
Can Help Tire Life
Consistent pressure means more even tread wear. Maintaining proper PSI is the single best thing for tire longevity.
Clean & Inert
No oxygen means no oxidation inside the tire. Especially beneficial for alloy wheels and performance applications.
Real talk: Nitrogen isn't magic. It doesn't fix leaks, it won't dramatically change your gas mileage, and it still needs periodic checks. What it does do is give you a more stable, drier fill that holds pressure better between visits. Think of it as a smarter fill — not a fix-all.
Side by Side
Nitrogen vs. Regular Air
Here's how they compare on the things that actually matter day-to-day.
| Factor | Nitrogen (N₂) | Regular Air |
|---|---|---|
| Pressure Loss Rate | Slower — N₂ permeates rubber more slowly | Faster — oxygen molecules are smaller |
| Moisture Content | Dry — virtually zero water vapor | Contains water vapor unless thoroughly dried |
| Temperature Response | More predictable expansion/contraction | Greater PSI swings with temp changes |
| Internal Corrosion | Minimal — inert gas, no oxidation | Possible over time due to moisture + oxygen |
| Availability | Available at equipped shops | Available everywhere |
| Cost | Small service fee | Usually free |
| Still Needs Checking? | Yes — just less often | Yes — more frequently |
Who It's Best For
Good for Every Vehicle.
Great for These.
Any car, truck, or SUV can benefit — but nitrogen really earns its keep in certain scenarios.
Tired of the TPMS light every time the weather changes? That's one of the most common reasons people switch to nitrogen. When overnight temps drop 15–20°F in Marietta — which happens every fall and spring — regular air loses enough pressure to trigger the sensor. Nitrogen reduces those swings, which means fewer dashboard warnings and fewer trips to air up.
Our Nitrogen Service
What's Included at
Road Runner
We don't just blast nitrogen in and send you off. Here's what we do every time.
Current PSI check — We measure what you're at before we start so there's a baseline.
Set to door-jamb spec — We inflate to your vehicle's recommended pressure unless you tell us otherwise.
Valve stem & core inspection — Worn or cracked stems defeat the purpose. We check them every time.
Quick leak check — We look for obvious bead leaks or slow punctures before filling.
Purge & fill — We evacuate the existing air and fill with dry nitrogen for the best purity.
Top-offs available — Already running nitrogen? Stop by for a quick top-off. It's fast.
Same-day service is available for most vehicles — just call ahead or walk in.

Common Questions
On pricing: We don't post fixed prices online because it depends on the job — how many tires, whether it's a fresh install or a top-off, if valve stems need replacing, and whether TPMS service is involved. Call or stop by for today's price. We'll give you a straight answer in 30 seconds.
How long does nitrogen last in tires?
Nitrogen permeates through tire rubber more slowly than oxygen, so you'll lose pressure at a slower rate. Most people find they can go longer between checks — but "longer" doesn't mean "never." Check your tires at least once a month regardless.
Can I mix nitrogen with regular air?
Yes — it's safe to top off with air in a pinch. It just dilutes the concentration, reducing the benefits. Bring it in when you can and we'll purge and refill to get you back to high purity.
Will nitrogen fix a tire leak?
No. If your tire has a puncture, bad bead seal, or cracked valve stem, nitrogen won't solve it. The leak needs to be repaired first. Nitrogen helps maintain pressure — it doesn't contain pressure escaping through a hole.
Does nitrogen improve gas mileage?
Properly inflated tires are better for fuel economy than underinflated tires — regardless of what's inside them. Nitrogen keeps pressure closer to spec for longer, which can indirectly help. But don't expect dramatic MPG gains.
Is nitrogen safe for TPMS sensors?
Absolutely. Nitrogen is actually easier on TPMS sensors, valve cores, and internal wheel surfaces because it's dry and non-corrosive. It's used in aircraft tires, racing, and heavy equipment for this reason.
How often should I check pressure with nitrogen?
At least once a month — same recommendation as regular air. Nitrogen holds pressure better, but it's not maintenance-free. A quick gauge check takes 30 seconds.
